Murlocs Gone Wild

Almost as frustrating as thinking of a plot itself, some may find it difficult to give their characters (or main character) a name. The right combination of names may come a long way with regards to how one feels about his or her story.

Thus, I raise the following questions:
What is your main character's name?
How did you decide his or her name, and how difficult was it to do so?
On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being positive, 1 being negative), How do you feel about your character's name?

(oh and btw, congratulations to all US residents on their new president!)

Here's my response!

There are two main characters. Their names are Leyola Swiftwillow and Wimzig Wintersprug.
For their first names, I used random name generators, namely, the WoW in-game name generator. For last names, I adhered to naming conventions used by the WoW universe. It was more difficult to come up with a matching last name, than it was to determine whether or not I wanted to use a name that showed up on the name generator.
I feel really good about their names, and rate my confidence in them with a 9.5. There is a 0.5% chance that they will be changed, and this would be caused by actually removing a character altogether.

The primary character's name in my tale of woe (WOE!) is William Lynch. The character existed before the plot for the story did. He'd been bouncing around in my head for quite some time before the plot started to follow him around. As far as how his name came to be, it just rather fit for who he was. William because he's from a noble family and I wanted him to have a traditionally noble name. Lynch because it's just an awesome name. Also, I may have been listening to Mr. Scary (one of George Lynch's better pieces of work) at the time William was created. I really like the name and there is very little chance it will be changed. If it does, it will be because I use a different character altogether.

My main character's name is Rose, and her name is unlikely to change. The hero's name is Jim, and that's up for grabs, I reckon.

Well. There was one central character. Now there's two... And on rather different times too, for Nicky Merrik will be about fifty-five by the time Liv comes along. However...

Nicky Merrik: I've had this name for the longest time. Nicolette Cecile Merrik, but if you call her anything but Nicky [and she insists that you spell it that way], you'll find yourself in a whole world of pain. I absolutely love the name, and although I don't remember how I got to it, but it's gonna stick for a long, long time. It suits her well... and it may be seen why, if I show the story... 9.8/10.

Liv Goodall: It was hardly my first choice of a last name. However, it was what I was using for a placeholder, Goodall, and it stuck. Ugh. Liv, however, comes from Olivia. I love this name, and have for a long time. She had always been 'Livvy' in my head, but, on paper, it just ended up being 'Liv'. How or when, I don't know... -ponders that one- Egh. Overall, though, it'd rate up to a 6.8, with the likelihood of it changing be rather low. It came and it stuck, y'know...
